Turbine output is 3 phase AC, reducing power loss over longer wire lengths, that is then converted to DC at the controller. Microprocessor-based controller provides voltage regulation of either 12 or 24V output, peak power tracking, and silent stall control in high winds (see more info below). At sea the increased blade tip angle improves ability of blades to both engage wind at low speeds as well as shifting the point at which blades would typically flutter in high winds to a point above the rotational speed allowed by the unit's electronic controls. In port, hysteresis braking locks the turbine in a silent regulation mode once the batteries are fully charged, preventing the turbine from fluctuating in and out of regulation mode.
